어와나 Grand Prix: Only Need God
Have you ever built anything with your parents? When’s the last time you had fun with your dad? AWANA Grand Prix will give you that chance.
I have been in AWANA since cubbies (4-year-old) and have learned a lot about God. Once I got to Sparks(K – 2ndgrade), I heard about this “car racing” event in AWANA. My mom thought of giving a try and we purchased a pinewood car kit. Even though I was in kindergarten, I designed my race car and spent quality time with my dad building it. At the end, I painted the car, and both I and my dad were proud of our first grand prix racing car. At first, I thought the grand prix was about just making an unbeatable car and winning the race. Once I got older, I realized that it wasn’t just about racing and competing. It was to have fun with your parents. At the past 3 AWANA grand prix’s, I never won any trophies. This year, I received the “Best Effort” award. I had never expected that I would receive it. Trophies and medals don’t matter to me much because I learned I only need God (I still appreciate them though).
Next year, I will be in Trek (middle school) so my Grand Prix saga ended this year. I’m so happy that God gave me this opportunity of participating grand prix to have fun with other AWANA friends and especially with my parents. I would like to write something similar to this once again in “dad’s point-of-view” once my kid is in AWANA many, many years from now. I hope I can write “Thank God. I had so much fun with my child!”
