Our first Christmas together since 1998

For Christmas this year, Jane and I came to Korea to spend some time with family and to meet my baby niece. It has been a wonderful time of rest and eating more than I’d like to admit to my doctor when I get back. I’ve been able to play tennis with JM, visit my dad in Jeju, see Jane’s relatives, and now spend my first Christmas with my family. The last time our family was together like this, we had just immigrated to America, and I was only four years old, so I don’t remember much of it. At some point over the next year, my parents divorced, and I went to live with my dad, so I have no memories of spending holidays together as a family.

This Christmas, our family is just overwhelmed by God’s grace, as we’re able to come together renewed in Christ. It’s amazing to look at this picture and see the journey we have all gone through in our lives and recognize God’s hand in it. He even gave us a baby in the family, and I’m hearing voices and sounds from my parents that I didn’t even know they were capable of making. I’ve been blessed to see how much joy a child can bring to a family and proud to see my sister and John-Michael as such loving parents. Thank you, God.

Jane and I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for all of your support and prayers. We can't wait to see what God has planned for this ministry in 2022.

As we wrapped up the semester for ACF, I am glad for Winter Break. When we started the semester, we weren’t sure of whether or not JMU would allow students to stay on campus, or if they would send them home after some time like they did last year. Reaching Winter Break means to us that we were able to finish the semester together, and that has been a tremendous blessing to our ministry. It is so good to be with the students in Harrisonburg, and to do life together again. We were able to celebrate ACF’s 30th year anniversary with some of our alumni, host thanksgiving potluck, meet weekly for badminton ministry, go ice skating, and have our winter banquet. Praise be to God.

Prayer

ACF Stephen Kim 122421Jane and I will be returning to America in January, and I will be meeting with the new officers to plan for the upcoming semester. Please pray for us as we travel, and as I meet to prepare for our next steps in God’s provision and guidance.

I got my CPAP! My sleep study in November showed that I had obstructive sleep apnea, and I was able to get the equipment in time for our trip to Korea. It took me a while to get used to the machine, and it is a lifestyle change, but it has done wonders for my sleep. Thank you for praying with me and checking in on me over the past year.

As I’ve been getting situated with ACF, it has been my desire for us to partner with a missionary or missions organization to send a team annually. So far, we have had a few potential domestic and international opportunities; please pray with me as we look for a long-term partner for our ministry.

One of my goals over the next year or two is to increase my personal support. God has been really gracious in providing just enough every month for me to supplement Jane’s income. I am praying for more provision to be able to better support Jane and lessen the burden on her as we prepare for the future. I’m also praying for more opportunities in the future to travel and share with other churches and ministries about ACF.

Jane and I would love to pray for you as well, so if you would like to share an update or prayer request with us, please feel free to email us anytime!
