The theme of this year's JG summer retreat was "Gospel Renewal". In Romans 1:16, Apostle Paul says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

Have you every looked into the profound depth of that statement? Gospel, power of God, for salvation. Do we actually believe that the Gospel is THE POWER OF GOD for salvation? It's easy to treat the gospel as just mere intellectual knowledge. For Apostle Paul, however, the gospel was more than mere knowledge. It was the actual power of God through which eternal salvation is given to every individual. And in JG, we believe that as well.

It's the Gospel alone that has the power of God for salvation. And with that conviction, we carefully planned our entire retreat around the theme of the gospel. Sure enough, as we faithfully preached the gospel, God began to work mightily in the hearts of our students. We witnessed students repenting, crying out for healing in their own families, seeking reconciliation with one another, and simply surrendering their lives to Christ. Seeing the students cry out to God and praise so passionately only reminded me of how beautiful Romans 1:16 truly is.
